Halloweden returns with a new interactive trail
Join us for a magical and mysterious journey around Eden this October half-term, as we lay on a spooky but safe Halloween experience for you and your family.
A world of magic and mystery awaits visitors to the Eden Project this half-term as “Halloweden” returns with a new interactive trail designed to entertain the family.
Taking place from yesterday to Sunday, November 1, the Odyssey of Weird Little Stories, or OWLS for short, encourages visitors to explore all around the home of the biomes, pausing at eight specially- chosen locations.
Eagle-eyed explorers will be able to spot an owl at each of these points and, through an app on their smart devices, they can listen to stories, myths and legends from all over the world.
The eight narrations are located throughout the Outdoor Gardens and within both the Biomes and include a fascinating Korean folk tale, an eerie Cornish ghost story, the legend of a spirit of the Amazon rainforest and the myth of how the owl became wise.
The stories are mixtures of new, original pieces inspired by spirit legends and old folk tales that have been rewritten especially for Halloweden.
Visitors can also catch a glimpse of some real-life owls thanks to The Screech Owl Sanctuary, who will be at Eden throughout the half term holidays.
Birds set to appear include a tawny owl, a barn owl and an Indian scops owl – among the friendliest of species. Fancy dress is encouraged so families are welcome to dress up to enjoy the spooky but- safe experiences.
In addition to the Halloweden fun, Eden’s ice rink opened yesterday, offering 40 minute sessions for skaters of any age and ability.
Social distancing safety measures mean this year the rink will operate with much reduced numbers. Visitors to Eden will need to pre-book a timed entry slot and require valid form of admission.
Skating tickets must also be pre-booked for an additional charge.
